Comprehensive management of industrial water measurement projects

We develop bespoke projects for industrial water management across the entire water cycle, digitising the entire control process.

We design solutions tailored to the specific needs of each industry, taking into account water quality, process objectives, and requirements for abstraction, use, discharge or reuse, as well as the conditions for integration into the plant.

How do we develop water testing systems?

Monitoring systems tailored to each specific industrial environment

No two industrial water systems are exactly the same. Each project depends on the type of water, the variability of the load, the end use of the resource, the criticality of the process and the level of control required during operation.

At Envira, we approach these systems from a comprehensive technical perspective, defining the most suitable measurement solution for each industrial application and implementing it with a focus on functionality, efficiency and the ability to integrate with the existing plant.

Assessment and requirements gathering

We analyse the inlet water, the average and peak flow rates, the variability of the industrial process, the contaminants present and the physico-chemical variables to establish a solid technical foundation from the outset.

We identify the main objectives of the project and its technical constraints:

  • Treatment objectives: drinking water production, desalination, treatment of effluent from reservoirs, purification and reuse processes, discharges, production of ultrapure water…
  • Technical conditions: available space, energy consumption and operational requirements.

Design and sizing of the automatic water control system

We handle the comprehensive management of all stages of the project: from the design of the water parameter monitoring and control system and the supply of equipment, through to factory validation prior to the commissioning of the plant installation.

We also work with internationally recognised brands in instrumentation, automation and equipment, enabling us to integrate robust, proven solutions that meet the most demanding technical standards.

Integration with plant control systems

Integrating the water monitoring system into the plant’s SCADA system via a PLC allows process monitoring, data acquisition and alarm management to be consolidated onto a single platform. This means that data on flow, level, pH, conductivity, turbidity, temperature and any other relevant parameters are displayed in real time alongside the plant’s other operational variables, facilitating faster and more accurate decision-making.

Furthermore, this integration improves process automation and reliability, as the PLC can execute control actions based on thresholds, setpoints or predefined sequences.

Commissioning and factory settings

We carry out factory validation of the complete industrial water treatment solution before it is shipped to the plant. This acceptance test ensures that the equipment, instrumentation and control logic comply with the project specifications and perform correctly under defined test conditions.

This reduces installation issues and speeds up on-site commissioning, minimising risks and unnecessary downtime during the plant’s start-up.

We design, implement and integrate our measurement systems for a wide range of applications

Our approach ranges from measurements in facilities focused on regulatory compliance to systems designed to recover water, optimise consumption and improve the stability of the production process. That is why, rather than simply supplying individual pieces of equipment, we develop integrated solutions that combine process engineering, automation, instrumentation and specialist technical support.
Wastewater treatment plants
We design monitoring systems for wastewater treatment plants with the aim of continuously monitoring critical process parameters and facilitating more efficient, stable and traceable operations.

These solutions enable the monitoring of variables such as flow rate, level, pH, turbidity, conductivity, dissolved oxygen or redox, adapting to the different treatment stages and the operational requirements of each facility.

The integration of this process instrumentation in treatment plants improves process control, helps detect deviations at an early stage and provides a solid basis for optimising plant performance. Furthermore, it facilitates compliance with technical and regulatory requirements, reduces incidents and supports better decision-making in operation and maintenance.
Hydroelectric power stations or water-based power generation facilities
We develop monitoring solutions for hydroelectric facilities and water-based power generation plants, where data reliability is key to ensuring safe and efficient operation.

These solutions enable the monitoring of hydraulic and process variables such as flow rate, level, pressure, temperature and water analysis, providing a continuous overview of the facility’s performance.

Monitoring in these types of environments helps to optimise the use of water resources, improve operational control and anticipate potential deviations that could affect plant performance. By integrating data acquisition into control systems, it also facilitates data utilisation, automated responses and operational traceability.
Desalination plants
Instrumentation for water control in desalination plants is designed to precisely monitor the variables involved in the collection, treatment and production of desalinated water.

These facilities require continuous monitoring of parameters such as flow rate, pressure, conductivity, turbidity, temperature and water analysis, both at the inlet and throughout the various stages of the process.

Monitoring in desalination is essential to ensure stable operation, protect equipment, optimise energy consumption and maintain the quality of the produced water. Furthermore, it enables the early detection of incidents, improves control of the osmosis process and enhances the operational reliability of a particularly demanding facility.
Water treatment plants and chlorination stations
We design continuous monitoring solutions for water treatment plants and chlorination stations that enable the continuous monitoring of water quality and ensure adequate disinfection at all times.

These solutions are tailored to variables such as flow rate, level, turbidity, pH, conductivity, residual chlorine and other relevant parameters for the treatment and distribution of drinking water.

The integration of this measurement technology into these facilities improves health and safety, facilitates the adjustment of the chlorination process and provides full operational traceability. It also helps to optimise the use of reagents, prevent quality deviations and ensure a rapid response to any changes in system conditions.
Ultrapure water production facilities or systems
We implement monitoring solutions for ultrapure water production facilities where quality control must be extremely precise and continuous.

These solutions enable the monitoring of parameters such as conductivity, resistivity, pH, temperature, flow rate and other critical variables to ensure that the water produced meets the purity requirements demanded by the end process.

Water control instrumentation in these types of systems is essential for protecting sensitive equipment, ensuring the stability of the treated water and detecting any deviations that could compromise process quality. Furthermore, it facilitates integration with control and automation systems, improving traceability, operational efficiency and the ability to respond to incidents.
Pumping stations
We develop data acquisition solutions for pumping stations that enable the hydraulic behaviour of the installation to be monitored and its operational efficiency to be improved.

These solutions monitor variables such as flow rate, level, pressure, temperature and operational status, providing continuous information to manage the system with greater precision and reliability.

By measuring these variables at pumping stations, it is possible to optimise energy consumption, prevent overloads or dry running, detect anomalies in real time and extend the service life of the equipment. Furthermore, it provides a solid technical basis for automating operations, improving maintenance and ensuring safer and more stable operation.
